Smile Windows 7 problems

Hi,

I've just installed guild wars in my win7, I have already disabled the Media Center, I hate that thing.

ok, so my problem is that everytime I change map, or travel or change character the game fastly minimizes and maxes again, is very anoyin'.

Anyone experienced this? any solution?

My specs:
ASuS M2N-E SLI
XFX 8800GTS 320Mb
AMD Athlon X2 5600+
4Gb RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate
All the latest drivers...etc.

I had the same problem initially when I got 7. In my case the problem was eventually solved by some nameless automatic update, so I don't know the exact cause, but it really does sound like a graphical driver issue. Double check other things like your DirectX version, framework version, etc.

I've noticed that dxdiag reports I'm using DirectX 11, but obviously my card doesn't support it, is this ok? Or I should somehow downgrade DX?

Thanks.

EDIT: Tryed runin' the game in compatibility mode, even in 16bit color (QQ !!!) but nothing works, the game still minis&maxes everytime I change map...I'm scared....

I'm pretty sure Guild Wars is using directx 9, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Are you playing in windowed mode or fullscreen mode?

I'm playin in fullscreen, of course.

PROBLEM SOLVED

Right-click on the Gw.exe > Properties Tab > Compatibility

Tick: Run this program in compatibility mode for:
Select from the drop-down menu: Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)

Apply & close and run the game.

Remember to create a new shortcut to remove the "-mce" from the original.

solved?

otay

i was going to suggest to disable/close your internet security program (enabling game mode option not good enough)

i had the same problem but not with map changes, but with background app activity (messenger, mail notice, etc)

-.-
